TLC191 Think Pink Twinks

 

The challenge on Splitcoast today is in honor of Breast Cancer awareness.  We were to

use twinkling H2O's.  I don't have any of those, so I substituted them with Perfect Pearls.

the wonderful image is from Stamp Francisco called Lg. Butterfly collage 570 39.

I embossed it in black on DP from the Paper Studio, colored in areas with watercolor pencils

and then painted with Perfect Pearls/water in Blush and Red.  The Pearl & flower brad are

Spare Parts/The Paper Studio and the sheer ribbon is May Arts.  The opaque tag is unknown

and the Hope is from Impression Obsession Express Yourself set.  I stamped the card base

in Brilliance Pearl Orchid ink using SU! floral background.  The edges were sponged with Distress

Tattered Rose. 

Clear Pledge of Allegiance

 

This is for today's Limited Supply Challenge over at Splitcoast.  We had to use Red White & Blue seeing as it's the 4th of July and limit our layers to 4 or less, same with tools and embellishments.  Well, I think I did this one without screwing up for a change!  My card base is clear acetate.  I cut a navy card 1/4" smaller and tied the striped ribbon around the acetate and it holds the navy card in the middle.  The silhouette is stamped on vellum using black stazon and layered on Real Red CS. Pledge of Allegiance and silhouette stamps are by Stampabilities.  The stars are SU! Classic Backgrounds.  The only inks used were Stazon Black soot and Cotton White.  Happy 4th of July, hope it's a fun day for you and yours!

Shirt pocket card

I found this cute shirt pattern on line at Paper Crafts Magazine and thought it would be fun to try for Fathers Day. DP is from BasicGrey Periphery 6 x 6 paper pad. I have attached the pattern, but here are the step by step directions. Cut CS 5 1/4" x 8 1/2". Score at 4 1/4" with the paper at landscape orientation. cut 3/4" off the top left side of the card to the score line in the middle. On the taller right hand side, cut a slit in 1/4" deep and 3/4" from the top of card. Measure in 3/4" from each end of the same side you cut the 1/4" slits and mark with a pencil at the top of the card. Cut a diagonal from the pencil mark to the inside of the 1/4" slit so it looks like the diagram. Fold the card in half with the taller section on the inside. Cover the shorter front part with DP. Cut 2 collar pieces 7/8" x 1 7/8". Adhere to the card front only lining up the top corners with the top of the inside of the card. Cut a tie by hand and attach. Use adhesive along the bottom opening and side opening to create a pocket. Tag insert is 4 1/4 x 2 3/4" finished size.

Wonderful You

Not much time today, but I wanted to share a couple Stampin' Up! cards. I combined several sets for the red card. Sets include Wonderful You, Fresh Cuts & Fabulous Flowers. I also used Stems & Silhouettes Jumbo Wheel and All In a Row. Ink is Chocolate chip and Real Red. CS is Real Red, Very Vanilla and Sahara Sand. I used the round tab punch and a 3/4" circle punch for under the clear button. The layered flower is on dimensionals and finished with Chocolate Taffeta ribbon.

My 2nd card was created using Fabulous Flowers and Fresh Cuts. The lg. flower was inked with Summer Sun and rock n rolled in Pumpkin Pie and Really Rust classic inks, misted and stamped on vellum. I stamped the flower center using Stazon Timber Brown. The background was also stampe in Timber Brown. The sentiment was watercolored using Summer Sun. I finished it with Fire Brads and Chocolate Taffeta ribbon that was crinkled using a heat gun.

No Layer Graduation Card

I made this about a year ago and wasn't blogging then, so I wanted to share my no layer card. We are off to 4 Grad Open Houses and a birthday party today and tomorrow. Busy time of year! I also wanted to tell you that there are new Sneak Peeks of Hanna's coming Monday - Friday in anticipation of the release of 3 new sets on the 6th. Also, new Rubbernecker images will be unveiled on Tuesday with news about the exciting artist behind the stamps! Be sure to check out Jeanne's Blogger challenge on Tuesday as well as the treasure hunt. My card combines a stamp shown in the photo from Hero Arts Fancy Script messages set. I used the rest of the word graduate that is retired SU! as is the cap, little letters (for Zeeland High School) and the striped background stamp that was stamped 2 ways. The cap was stamped in versamark and dusted with Gold pearl ex. School colors are Brown & Gold, exciting Huh??? Simple card, but I think it is elegant and works for either gender. My very 1st card....

Here's a blast from the past for you. This is the first card I ever made. Well, the first card with rubber stamps that is. This was back in 1999 with my SU! starter kit in hand. Back then, you didn't have the options for your kit like you do now. They just threw in an assortment of CS from whatever color family they put their hands on first I think. I ended up with soft subtles CS and inks in bold brights. Sure made it hard to make something with limited supplies. I forged ahead and used the dots & stripes stencils. (remember those?) The set was called Cupcake Birthday I believe. The flowers were made using the candle flame from the set. Not sure if the sentiment was in a different set or not.

Anyway, I am busy stamping some Design Team stuff today that I can't show you yet. Exciting stuff coming from Rubbernecker and I will post that on the 1st. We have new images designed by a mystery artist that will be announced very soon. There are also new Hanna's coming and I will start sneak peeks with those on Monday June 2. So for now, I wanted to show you my humble beginnings. I would like to think I have come a long way in 9 years............ Oh!!!! tomorrow will be Innovative Stamp Creations 3rd blog challenge and it will be a sketch challenge, so check back for that on Thursday.

P.S. Can you believe I made a card without any ribbon, embellishments or matting under my main image?

Fresh Cuts Thank You

I decided to use this new set from SU! for today's sketch challenge on Splitcoast. It is so chilly here today, I guess I was in a fall color mood. All images were stamped in Stazon Timber Brown except for the small flower which is Ruby Red. I sponged the main image panel using Ruby Red, More Mustard and Old Olive. The panel is wrapped in gold thread and there are a total of 15 brads on this creation. (note to self, don't attempt to do this again after 3 cups of coffee and one Diet Coke!) I took the stazon pad and scraped it around the edge of the card base. The flower thing under the brad is of unknown source, but everything else is SU!

Cut n Dry Lighthouse

I made this for today's Sketch Challenge using Cut n Dry stamp pad felt and reinkers. The image was stamped on the cut n dry felt using Stazon ink. Cut around the image leaving a little extra felt around the edges. Add reinkers to the felt until the image is completely covered on the felt. Then, ink up the stamp using you custom made stamp pad. The felt can be stored in a Zip bag to use over and over with the same image again. How fun is that? The card is 9 1/4" x 4" to fit in a standard business sized envelope.

Bronc Birthday

My Friend Judy has an awesome tutorial for a double pocket card using double sided designer paper and it is the Technique Challenge on Splitcoast today. Be sure to check out Judy's Blog and play along! I used SU! Western Sky DP and very vanilla cardstock for the tags. The twill was preprinted with the horseshoes. Ink is all Tim Holtz Distress, Walnut Stain, Black Soot, Frayed Burlap, Old Photo, Faded Jeans. The edges of the DP were sponged with Vintage Photo, the tag edges with Faded Jeans and Vintage Photo. The twill was stamped with Frayed Burlap stamped off on scrap paper once. I rock n rolled the genuine image in Walnut Stain after inking the stamp with Faded Jeans and the Bronc with Vintage Photo and then Walnut stain. I also sponged the twill to dirty it up. Grosgrain and leather was tied through the jumbo eyelets.

Man of the house

Here's another couple sneak peeks of
Hanna Stamps! that will be released on Friday April 4. This card features a new set called Tool Time.
The DP is by Foof-a-la. I used white magic mesh and sponged it with navy ink. The tools were stamped with Stazon Black on a paint chip. Very quick and simple card!












This card was so much fun to make! I paired the new Hanna set Passport with text from Things Hanna Would Say & SU! Headline Alphabet.

A stamp positioner and masking was crucial to get this just right. Hanna's bag is paper pieced and popped up on dimensionals. I doodled on the letters, sponged the background with Soft Sky ink and colored Hanna and the Taxi with Copic Markers. The sentiment is on a word window punch and layered on a small oval punch.

Dining Room Inspiration

Here's my card for today's inspiration challenge. We were to find inspiration around our home. I chose my Dining Room as it is my favorite in the house. The walls took me 3 months to complete. I had to strip wallpaper and scrub all the paste off the walls, painted 4 coats of burgandy paint which is actually called Ruby Lips, and then over stamp with a couple shades lighter. It was worth the time and effort in the end. My card is embossed in clear using Brocade Basis. The strip at the top was sponged with craft white and the edges in craft black. The beaded trim is leftover from my curtains. P.S. don't look at the dust bunnies (or dinosaurs as they may be) I am still waiting on my DD to get up and vacuum!

Blushing Embrace

I made this card for the Featured Stamper challenge this week. Petalpusher/Mary had a link to

Nichole Heady/Papertrey Ink Blog and I just had to try this elegant and simple background. The flowers were embossed on CS weight vellum and de-bossed and colored from the back. They are on dimensionals. The foliage is highlighted with a white gel pen. The card is a standard 4 1/4" x 5 1/2" and the blush tiling is affixed to a white card base.

Wanted Invitation

This is a 4 1/4" square card that opens in the center. (Gate Fold) I used my new Scor-Pal for the folds, super easy! The designer paper flaps are 4 1/4" square as well. Fold or score them in 1/2 and then find and mark the 2 1/8" center along one of the edges with the fold in vertical orientation. Now take a paper cutter and cut from the mark up to the fold line creating a triangle on half of the paper. The uncut side is affixed to the inside of the card flaps and the triangles are not glued to the outside. The square on the belly band is 2" sq. and the chocolate chip edge was done with a marker and straight edge. The horse was first stamped in classic ink and then restamped using craft ink slightly offsetting it. I embossed it with clear powder. That layer is attached to the belly band with dimensionals. I used the invitation stamps from Hugs & Wishes on the inside and markered just the you're from the you're invited stamp. So now, it reads You're Wanted! I love making this style card and hope you like it too!

Boho Wanted

My background was created by stamping the small medallions with Chocolate Chip craft ink and embossing with clear powder. The vanilla cardstock was then sponged with classic ink in sage shadow and blue bayou. I rolled it with the jumbo Rough Texture wheel that was lightly inked and then scraped a toothbrush across it loaded with Chocolate Chip ink. I did the same thing on the medallion but punched it with the scallop circle punch. The blue in the center was done with a dauber. The Friend is a rub on from the Sale a Bration catalog. The reinforcement on the tag was made using the small oval punch and a 1/2" circle punch. I used wide chocolate satin, blue bayou stitched ribbon and moss taffeta.

on the tag were stamped using All in a Row.

Debossed Friend

Debossing is so much fun and creates a beautiful look. Be sure to check out today's Technique Lovers Challenge on Splitcoast. I chose to use Embrace Life and really like this color combination. To make a no tie bow, you will need to punch 2 1/8" holes about 1/4"-3/8" apart. I started with a piece of taffeta about 14" long. You will want it to be a little longer so you have enough to work with. Using the large ball on an embossing stylus, push the tails through each hole from the front of the card to the inside. Leave a small loop on the front and then even the tails out on the inside. Cross the tails over and push a loop through each hole coming back up on the front of the card. Even out the loops. Now, take the tails and push them through the opposite hole from the loop with each tail. Give it a try and let me know if this doesn't make sense. The results are a perfect bow. I ended up with about 4" left after finishing my bow, but I prefer to have extra to work with.

In My Heart

I have very little time this morning as our 2nd Son and youngest child is receiving his Arrow of Light award amoung others today. So, I had to do something very quick before getting my potluck food ready and actually trying to be presentable myself. (no easy task)

Today's inspiration was a french blue room from a bed & breakfast. I took my inspiration from the framed heart doilies above the bed. I stamped 2 hearts in black stazon on a window sheet and cut out. To remove a section of the image for the sentiment, use a cotton swab with a little rubbing alcohol. You won't want it to be dripping. After stamping the sentiment, I sponged the back side of the heart with white stazon to make it stand out a little more. The Taffeta is tied through a clear button, then the knot of black hemp was tied through the knot and another piece secured under one end of the button, wrapped around the inside of the card and under the other side of the button. The scalloped template was adapted from something I tore out of a papercrafting magazine some time ago and have no idea of it's source. The finished card size is 4 1/4" square. Oh, I forgot! the Tres Chic background was first stamped in Blue Bayou ink and then stamped again using Going Gray ink. A stamp positioner such as a Stamp a ma Jig is essential to do this. IMO, the Stamp a ma Jig is the best stamp positioner on the market. I have owned many different ones over the years and this one stands out. I use it daily even if it is just to stamp an image on the clear sheet to place over my project to get an idea of how something will look.

Always Weathered

I just love making this set look shabby. All product is SU! with the exception of the black safety pin. The edges were swiped with a toothbrush loaded with Chocolate Chip craft ink. The bird was inked, rock n rolled and spritzed. The taffeta is kraft that was run across my close to cocoa classic pad. Print pattern was inked using creamy caramel and then the edges were highlighted with a close to cocoa marker and spritzed before stamping. I overstamped it with weathered in Sahara Sand. The rust card base was stamped with weathered in craft white ink and the edges were toothbrushed as well.

Framed Bird

The frame was created by cutting a piece of Naturals White cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4". Using a Fiskars 12" cutter, cut out the center leaving a 1" border around the edges. Cut from the center corner to each edge corner diagonally. Stamp sections with weathered background in close to cocoa and sponge edges with Chocolate Chip craft ink. Cut the leftover center of the frame down 1/4" and mat on Blue Bayou and then Soft sky that is just larger than the frame opening. The bird was inked with Blue Bayou and rock n rolled with Choc. Chip craft ink, spritzed and stamped. The heart was stamped with craft ink and embossed with clear powder. Assemble layers and place a window sheet over the center image making sure it is large enough to go under the frame. The Bayou Stitched ribbon really matches, it just didn't photograph true to color.

Always BasicGrey

Today's Technique Challenge was to use at least 2 patterns of designer paper. I used 4 as well as a solid dp. They are all BasicGrey Scarlets Letter from a 6 x 6 paper pack. I love the smaller patterns and the ease of choosing from an assortment. The bird was inked using Tim Holtz distress ink in Fired Brick, rock n rolled in Vintage Photo, spritzed and stamped. I did the same with the berry branches. The only cardstock I used was Basic Black for the mat under the main image and the circle sentiment and card base. The edges were sponged with Fired Brick, Vintage Photo and Black Soot. The tiny photo corners were created by punching a 3/4" square out of DP and cutting in 1/2 on a diagonal. I used temporary Dotto to stack them together and stuck them on a piece of scrap paper. Then, using the same 3/4" punch, I punched out the center notch creating the photo corners. I hope that makes sense! The label holder is by Making Memories.
