Today's sketch on Splitcoast is a really fun one.  I chose images from Innovative Stamp Creations Holidays sheet &

the music in the background is from Summer Elements.  The background DP is art paper from a

Somerset Studio magazine and the burgandy script is 7gypsies.  I used Spellbinders classic lg. circles

for my layers and the angel layer was cut with the  companion coluzzle.  I Stamped the angel and wing

with Distress Aged Mahagony and made a shimmer mist with Perfect pearls gold and water.  Harmony

and the angel were highlighted with a Sakura stardust gel pen.

I pulled out some of my all time favorite stamps from Rubbernecker found in the Stamp Oasis Section. I used Ancient Heart and Triangle Angel. The angel was embossed with Distress Vintage Photo EP, cut into a tag and misted with distress reinkers and then sponged with a little Tattered Rose ink. She is layered on a Spellbinders Classic Scallop Rectangle die cut in coral CS. The Ancient Heart is stamped a few times on blush CS and torn, I didn't want the heart shape, just the words. The words are all from an old dictionary page.

Nice sketch on SC today.  I decided to go w/ an Asian theme and used images from Innovative Stamp Creations

Technique: Shimmer Mist using Perfect Pearls Gold & Water in a mini mister.

FS87 Leaves Dance

Today's Featured Stamper is Loves Stampin!!!!!!!!  What a delightful gallery she has!  I chose to case her card seen HERE

I kept the same basic sketch but changed the stamps, colors and technique.  My card features embossed die cuts from

Spellbinders, I used the oak leaf from Assorted Leaves and the Rod from Charms & Rod.  The background was made by embossing

the Collage of Leaves background in clear powder on white CS.  Isn't that stamp awesome?  The set is called Collage of Leaves

and will be released by Innovative Stamp Creations on Monday October 13.  After embossing, I used alcohol inks in Red Pepper,

Butterscotch & Lettuce to cover the entire layer.  Then, it was placed between clean white computer paper and the embossing

was ironed off.  I wanted a little more definition to my image, so I thought stamping the same background in Brown Stazon

with the help of a stamp positioner would work.  Well, my initial reaction was to pitch it in the garbage.  Instead - with nothing

to lose, I grabbed the applicator tool/clean felt/blending solution.  After swiping over the entire piece, it left the stazon in some

areas and was the perfect shading I had intended.

The die cuts were sponged with color before removing from the dies and then they were spritzed with Pearlized Distress Mists.

Music & Soul

For today's Ways to use it challenge. Speciality papers we have been hoarding. Well, I bought this textured/pearlized white embossed swirl DP because it reminded me of vintage Lincrusta wallpaper that is textured and painted. We have it in several rooms in our historic home including on the ceilings. (coulda just used wallpaper scraps, LOL!) So, I started out with the intention of making a kraft/white card and ended up here. The finished card is 5 1/2" square.The tatted trim is vintage lace and the key is also vintage from my stash. The embossed butterfly is a Cuttlebug embossing folders/die set and the tole flower is a Spellbinders shapeabilities die from the daisy heads set. The leaves are glass charms. Images are available from Innovative Stamp Creations. I used a music background from Summer Elements sheet, Flourish from the Fancy Designs sheet and sentiment from Art Phrases. CC182 Love Art

I made this for today's Color Challenge on Splitcoast, to create a monochromatic card.  The images are a set by Artful Illusions that I just love.  They were stamped in Distress Walnut Stain and sponged with Distress Vintage Photo.  The art was stamped and punched w/ a 1/2" circle punch and mounted on a mini bottle cap that was smashed.  I finished the card with a Pearlized Distress Mist using Distress Vintage Photo Ink/Perfect Pearls Blush/Water.

Here's a couple projects using Rubbernecker images. 

I made this for my hubby to put on his desk at work and liked it so much, I made a different version for my own desk.

The backgrounds were created on Kraft CS using a Pearlized Distress Mist/Acrylic Resist technique with encaustic wax finish.

I don't usually show personal photos here, but today I am.  The 3 sides of the frame have photos of  Marissa 15, Alex 13 Oct. 13 (Friday the 13th baby)

and Mason 11 1/2.  (can't forget the 1/2 at that age ya know)

This frame was left open ended

Each front panel (Kraft CS) and back panels (heavy weight cereal box cardboard) were cut to 3 1/2" x 5" and then I measured across the top and marked the middle at 1 3/4" and then down each side 2" and cut at diagonals to create the tag shape.

Wanna see my new toy?  It all started when I bought a Collage Discovery Workshop book by Claudine Hellmuth.  She uses so many neat mediums on her creations.  One thing I experimented with on the frames above is encaustic wax.  After finishing my projects by heating a metal painters palette with my heat gun and melting crayons on it before smearing it on my project I knew I needed a quilters iron.  Good thing Hobby Lobby has a 40% off coupon this week!  The iron comes with a standard tip, but you can purchase additional sizes.  It has variable heat settings and gets nice and hot!  Off to experiment with it some more.

Today's Inspiration Challenge were some very interesting hotel rooms, each one a work of art. I chose to use room 309 as my inspiration for today's card.

My card is another sneak peek using a new set to be released by Innovative Stamp Creations called Marvels of Nature II. 3 new stamp sheets and 1 individual stamp will be released on 9/2. I will bring you some of the other images leading up to the release, or scroll through my gallery for more sneak peeks from other sets.

Here are the card details: CS is Chocolate Chip, Kraft & Gold DejaView's Attic Collection DP. The frame was created using the dots from Cuttlebugs new with love border folders. The birds, sentiment and flourished swirls background are from Marvels of Nature II. The birds were stamped on Kraft CS using a rock n roll technique with Distress inks in Vintage Photo & Fired Brick inks. They were cut out and heavily sprayed with a pearlized distress mist made by combining Distress Inks, perfect pearls & water. I made 2 misters, 1 with Vintage Photo/Perfect Pearls Gold/Water & Fired Brick/Perfect Pearls Bronze/Water. When dry, I sponged the edges of the birds with Distress Black Soot. The perch is a die from Spellbinders Shapeabilities collection that was cut from brushed gold CS and sponged with black soot ink before removing from the die. (after embossing the detail) The edges were sponged with Distress Walnut Stain and the DP was distressed. I finished it with Taffeta ribbon in Chocolate and kraft and added 2 different sized brads for the birds eyes. Have a great weekend!

Judy is hosting the Limited Supplies challenge on Splitcoast today. What a fun one, I ended up making 2 cards. Both cards feature images from a stamp set to be released by Innovative Stamp Creations the week of 9/2. I know I have used these stamps several times, but I just love the new images coming out! This set is called Marvels of Nature II.

FS81 Girl & Bird

Today's Featured Stamper on Splitcoast is Patricia aka kokirose.  I love her style and it took me a while to decide what to case first.  I finally decided on her Dreams card seen HERE

I kept the same layout and color scheme.  Changes include:  Different Fiskars Border Punch, Stamped Frame instead of metal one, stamped tole flowers in place of silk flowers, acrylic resist background instead of designer paper, different stamps and added an embossed/die cut bar to the ribbon strip.  My prima's really match, I just couldn't get the photo to show that without losing other details.

All stamps available from Innovative Stamp Creations  The background is called Floral Batik.  The tole flowers and frame are from a soon to be released set called Harlequin Flowers 2.  The girl & bird is vintage clip art from a Niagara Starch advertisement.  The batik background was stamped in brown acrylic paint on rose red cardstock.  I saturated the layer with a mini mister with Red Brick Distress ink/perfect pearls red/water.  The frame is stamped on Kraft with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink.  A 1/38" circle punch was used on the clip art and then I topped it with a clear page pebble.  The tole flowers are from the harlequin flowers 2 set and were stamped using Adirondack pigment in Cranberry and sponged with Distress Vintage Photo.  The smaller tole flowers were die cut with Spellbinders shapeabilities Daisy Heads set (smallest flower) and the bar is also from Spellbinders and is from the Charms & Rod set. 

Inspire-Imagine

Created using an acrylic resist technique with acrylic paint and a pearlized distress mist. I started by stamping the diamond pattern with white acrylic paint on vanilla cardstock and letting it dry for a few minutes. The pearlized distress mist is made by adding a whole dropper of distress Fired Brick reinker in a mini mister. Then, add some perfect pearls red using the straw end of the sprayer. Fill the mister with water and shake well. I made another mist for the right hand margin of the card using Tea Dye distress and bronze perfect pearls. After the layer was dry, baroque background was stamped in Tea Dye over the right hand side. The die cuts are Spellbinders shapeabilities from the Symbology die and the hinges are from the Hardware Hinges set. They were sponged with Encore Gold ink before popping them out of the dies. The sentiment was stamped using a stamp positioner because it was a long stamp and wouldn't fit. The hardware is Tim Holtz Idea-ology line.

I started with vanilla cardstock and misted it with perfect pearls, distress reinker/Tea Dye/water. Images were stamped in Versafine Onyx Black and Adirondack Pigment Cranberry. The dies are Spellbinders Shapabilities, Symbology & Hdwe. Hinges. I sponged them with Encore Gold before removing them from the die. Images used are: Arte & Sm. Face/Art 4 Frames Sheet, Sentiment on the ATC/Art Phrases Stamp Sheet, Lg. Face & Flowers/Friendship Sheet.

Such Beauty

I made this for the challenge over at Stampin' 'D Amour

The challenge was to make a card or ATC with either of the following themes:
1. China

OR
2. Your favorite Olympic sport
You may use any stamps, images, techniques, etc.

I chose to make a tag instead of a card or ATC. The ginko's were stamped with sand acrylic paint across the top and bottom of the tag and left to dry. I saturated the tag with a mixture of Distress Reinker/Water/Perfect Pearls gold. I used two mini misters, one with Mustard Seed and one with Fired Brick. I love the intense color and the variations you get with the two shades. It's hard to tell in a photo. The images are all by Innovative Stamp Creations The words and ginko leaves are from Women of the Orient ATC's sheet and the umbrella girls are from the Lovely Geisha's sheet. I stamped them in Versafine onyx black and added a chinese coin, ribbon and a tassle to finish it off.

Festive Shimmer Resist

This is for FS78 over at Splitcoast today, Shellapoo!  Not only is Michelle a talented and kind hearted stamper, she leaves comments and visits blogs regularly too.  Read her story over in the FS thread and you will be touched by her too. 

I chose to case her Trust card. 

Changes include: Stamps, Colors, tag instead of rectangle layer, fibers, different resist and an additional layer to the base. 

I started out by stamping the leaves on Vanilla CS with Gesso and letting them dry.  Then, using a Tim Holtz technique, spritzed with a mixture of distress ink/perfect pearls and water.  It resists the gesso.  Well, I usually do this with acrylic paint daubers and the paint doesn't stay such a stark white as the gesso did.  I set it aside and went on with other things.  Just before bed, I took another look at it and decided to brayer over it with a Kaleidacolor autumn leaves pad.  Yeah, it worked!  I chose not to brayer the tag, just sponged the edges with Fired brick Distress ink.  The edges of the main layer were scraped with a toothbrush and Versafine Vintage Sepia.  Fibers are Basic Grey.  All supplies available from Rubbernecker Stamp Co.
