Wacky Wednesday #13

It’s Wednesday again and that means it’s time for another Rubbernecker challenge.  Today, the challenge is to incorporate frames of any kind.  Use stamps, die cuts, rub on’s, stickers, metal embellishments, chipboard etc….

The stamps used today will be released by Rubbernecker on Thursday May 28.  You will want to check the Rubbernecker Blog and join the blog stroll tomorrow for a chance to win free stamps and see all the fabulous creations the DT has come up with.  I used images from 2 new Inchie sets, flourish inchies & butterfly inchies on my card.  The frames are Spellbinders Frameabilities/classic frames and the embossed mauve layer is Spellbinders impressabilities/butterfly.    The frame is cut\embossed using Coredinations Black Magic/spellcaster cardstock.  I only used a sheet of the black cardstock that had the mauve core and back.  The center of the frame is the reverse side of the large frame center.  To highlight the embossed images, the cardstock was lightly sanded to reveal the colored core.  One of the flourish inchies was stamped around the border of the striped designer paper .

Wacky Wednesday #12 Inchies!

Candy is the challenge hostess today at the Rubbernecker Stamp Blog and the challenge is to use inchies on your card or project. Have you seen the fun inchie sets Mr. Rubbernecker has released lately? I am combining the inchie challenge with the Featured Stamper challenge from this week on Splitcoast. The FS is our very own Red Hot Momma Joan Ervin! Her gallery at SC is a treat to look through, I chose to case the card found HERE.

You know, I just realized that my cards are always more neutral shades. I love color and Red is my favorite. You would think I would gravitate to these colors with my work. The colors today came about because I was thinking of a Latte or coffee w/ cream. Here’s the details:

Rubbernecker Blog Stroll/Stamp Release Day!

Good morning and welcome to the Rubbernecker Blog Stroll. Today, Rubbernecker Stamps releases SIX (6) new sets that Mr. Rubbernecker has worked very hard to create!

My sample today uses the newly released Flourish 463 set as well as Wildflowers 465 & Spring Inchies 425. The background stamp is Abstract Floral and the sentiment is from Fashion Icons 456. To start, the purple layer was stamped using Castaway ink and ironed to get the bleached look. I punched the edge with an EK Success victorian punch and edged it with flat pearls. The sentiment was stamped with Adirondack white ink. The dress was made using Spellbinders Classic Heart (3rd from the smallest) for the bodice, Classic Ovals (largest) and Classic Scallop Rectangle Lg. for the hemline. The dress was die cut from Prism Crabapple pink cardstock and stamped with the flourishes and castaway pad to get the sublte white bleaching. I overstamped with the flourish stamp in black and did the top with the small flower. The edges of the dress were sponged with Distress worn lipstick ink. I finished the dress with May Arts ribbon, a stamped toile flower and flat pearls. There is also a shimmer mist made with Perfect Pearls/blush/tattered rose reinker/water for a little glitz. The dress is raised on foam dimensional tape.

Wacky Wednesday #7

I had so much fun with the inspiration that I made 2 cards to show you today.  The first (shown in the close up view) shows the faux bleached inchies combined with 7gypsies  Designer Paper.  The wildflowers & sentiment were stamped on the same paper as the floral squares.  I stamped the sm. flower from the wildflowers set onto a Tim Holtz Fragment and then used alcohol inks on the back.   The beautiful ribbon is also from 7gypsies.

My 2nd inspiration card uses a torn strip of the same faux bleached panel I made, but it looks so different layered on the blue DP vs. the green DP.

Alter it!

I am excited to not only participate in Splitcoasts color challenge today but also to use a newly released set by

Innovative Stamp Creations called Alter It!  The set of 4 also has a distressed ruler that wasn't used on this sample.

The filligree corner was stamped in Baja Breeze on Kraft CS and also on the Spellbinders curved rectangles die.  I sponged

the kraft edges with Tim Holtz Distress/Faded Jeans and the embossed die cut with distress Tea Dye ink.  The key hole

was embossed with Tim Holtz Distress/Tea Dye powder.  The card is finished w/ a vintage key and brads.  Hope you like it!

 

ATC Recipe Box

I love these ATC die cut boxes & clear vinyl sleeves available from Innovative Stamp Creations.

The challenge at ISC is to create an ATC box with atc recipes enclosed.

My box has Teresa Collins papers that were covered with

contact paper to make it more durable and kitchen friendly.  The

magnetic closure is by Basic Grey and I added the red rhinestone to the

center.  The tags were created by stamping the words in Stazon White ink

on black shrink plastic and then die cut with Spellbinders smallest tag from

the tags trio set.  My little recipe book holds 6 vinyl sleeves bound

with the Bind it All.

When complete, the little book will contain 12 of my favorite holiday recipes.

The ATC box is roomy enough to add an additional book or 2. 

Hmmmm, maybe 1 for sweets & treats and 1 for main dishes and appetizers? 

I love this project for the holidays or for a shower gift using the brides favorite colors.

Peaceful Trek

My card today is for 2 challenges.  The sketch challenge can be found here.  The 2nd challenge is

the Wednesday Rubbernecker Blog Challenge hosted by Design Team member Bev Gerard called

Nix the Ribbon.  We were to use fibers, cording, thread etc. No ribbon allowed.  Come play along!

The Winter Trek image is Stamp Oasis and was embossed in silver on glossy white CS.  The layer was

brayered using Kaleidacolor Blue frost ink.  The Peace text is Rubbernecker and was stamped in

Adirondak Denim pigment on CS Vellum, die cut usingthe smallest curved rectangles die from Spellbinders. 

The edges of the vellum was sponged withencore Silver ink and then dipped in silver EP and heat embossed. 

I die cut the same size and offset the navy layer under the vellum.  Be sure to stop by the Rubbernecker

Treasure Hunt Time!

 

My Rubbbernecker card was done with the bandana technique.  Distress reinkers were spritzed on watercolor paper.  When dry, the time background was stamped in Stazon Black and highlighted with an Inkssentials white gel pen.  The clock face is by Spare Parts and has an alcohol ink finish.  The hands are Spellbinders timeless Heritage die and the acetate overlay is by 7gypsies.  The ribbon is May Arts.

Long Time Friend

Excellent Technique Lovers Challenge on Splitcoast today. Click here to read the detailsand for the medallion tutorial. I chose to use Spellbinders Clock Faces & Symbology diesalong with EK Success Wrought Iron Punch and Cuttlebugs textile Embossing Folder. Thesentiment was embossed in black and is from Innovative Stamp Creations Textures & Sentimentssheet. The DP is Basic Grey Boxer and I used Brushed Copper, Gold & Shimmery White CS along withBlack, Navy and Bordering blue. Inks are Encore Copper, Distress Black Soot & Faded Jeans. Highlightswere added with a Sakura Stardust gel pen. The punched medallion and clock face are on dimensionals.

My sample today is a shipping tag. I just got the new Tim Holtz masks and this set is called Timeworks. After adhering them to the tag, distress inks were misted on the tag. I think I used Faded Jeans, Shabby Shutters & Scattered Straw. I left the masks on and added a couple of the gears masks over the top and misted again. (you can sorta make out the blue gears on the bottom right and top left. The sentiment, face and time dreamer image (under the clock hands) are stamped in Versafine Smokey Gray. The clock background was stamped in Distress Weathered Wood. The center of the clock hands has a black sewing notions snap, the eye has a page pebble and the clock face has hands from Spellbinders Timeless Heritage die. The hinge clip is Tim Holtz and the ball chain and fasteners are eye kandi. The fiber is Basic Grey , journey twill is unknown. All images are Rubbernecker Stamp Co. Hope you like it!

Harmony

Today's sketch on Splitcoast is a really fun one.  I chose images from Innovative Stamp Creations Holidays sheet &

the music in the background is from Summer Elements.  The background DP is art paper from a

Somerset Studio magazine and the burgandy script is 7gypsies.  I used Spellbinders classic lg. circles

for my layers and the angel layer was cut with the  companion coluzzle.  I Stamped the angel and wing

with Distress Aged Mahagony and made a shimmer mist with Perfect pearls gold and water.  Harmony

and the angel were highlighted with a Sakura stardust gel pen.

I pulled out some of my all time favorite stamps from Rubbernecker found in the Stamp Oasis Section. I used Ancient Heart and Triangle Angel. The angel was embossed with Distress Vintage Photo EP, cut into a tag and misted with distress reinkers and then sponged with a little Tattered Rose ink. She is layered on a Spellbinders Classic Scallop Rectangle die cut in coral CS. The Ancient Heart is stamped a few times on blush CS and torn, I didn't want the heart shape, just the words. The words are all from an old dictionary page.

Happy Birthday Bad Sherry!

It's time for another Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge and today just happens to be Bad Sherry's Birthday! So, the challenge today is to make a Birthday Card for her royal badness today.

Stop on by the Rubbernecker Blog and play along. My card for Sherry uses all Rubbernecker images and a favorite color combination of hers, paired with silhouette stamps & Grungeboard which she loves too.

Paper: Eggplant & Artichoke. DP by The Paper Studio

Ink: Versamagic Eggplant Chalk Ink, Versafine Onyx Black, Distress Tea Dye, Walnut Stain, Old Paper & Dusty Concord

Accessories: Dew Drops, Brad, Prima's, Grungeboard, Crackle Paint Peeled Paint, Ribbons. Distress Old Paper reinker. Spellbinders Antique Plate 1.

The card is a standard A2 with 1 1/4" cut off the front. The ribbon wraps around the card and is tied to hold it shut.

FS87 Leaves Dance

Today's Featured Stamper is Loves Stampin!!!!!!!!  What a delightful gallery she has!  I chose to case her card seen HERE

I kept the same basic sketch but changed the stamps, colors and technique.  My card features embossed die cuts from

Spellbinders, I used the oak leaf from Assorted Leaves and the Rod from Charms & Rod.  The background was made by embossing

the Collage of Leaves background in clear powder on white CS.  Isn't that stamp awesome?  The set is called Collage of Leaves

and will be released by Innovative Stamp Creations on Monday October 13.  After embossing, I used alcohol inks in Red Pepper,

Butterscotch & Lettuce to cover the entire layer.  Then, it was placed between clean white computer paper and the embossing

was ironed off.  I wanted a little more definition to my image, so I thought stamping the same background in Brown Stazon

with the help of a stamp positioner would work.  Well, my initial reaction was to pitch it in the garbage.  Instead - with nothing

to lose, I grabbed the applicator tool/clean felt/blending solution.  After swiping over the entire piece, it left the stazon in some

areas and was the perfect shading I had intended.

The die cuts were sponged with color before removing from the dies and then they were spritzed with Pearlized Distress Mists.

A Walk on the Mild Side Sherry - Walkin' on the BAD Side!

The fern background was stamped in versamark and embossed in clear EP on Vanilla CS. Then, I made an alcohol ink background over the top of the embossing using Latte, Meadow & Lettuce.

With the craft iron set on High/Cotton, iron the embossed image between a sheets of plain white copy paper. I actually use my craft mat for the under layer as it is heat resistant. The embossing will melt and absorb into the copy paper. The result is a faux bleaching with a multi colored background. Cool Huh? Thanks to Bad Sherry for playing around with this while we were demoing in Chicago recently. Love it!

Here's what the iron looks like when collapsed. The handle pops off and slides over the metal base. When compacted, it measures 7 1/2" long and 1 5/8" thick. It also has a steam attachment and comes w/ a carry bag. Mr. Rubbernecker/Dave would love to add one to your Treasure Hunt order today. This is not only the perfect craft iron, but travel iron as well.

Back to the card details. The tags are both Spellbinders dies, the tan one is from the tags trio set. The Green one is from the double ended tags set and I simply folded the top of the tag over the ribbon and secured it with a glue dot. Both tags were die cut and then run through to emboss them. Follow your Heart was computer generated. The main sentiment was stamped in stazon black on CS weight vellum. The back was DTP'd with Distress ink/Peeled Paint. The leafy silhouette stamp was inked in Blanco Opaque White and stamped on the distress ink. Layering the colored vellum on the artichoke CS made the white images pop through. The black was sponged on with Blending Foam and the alcohol ink applicator handle. The strip under the tags & sentiment was stamped w/ the same silhouette stamp in 3 colors of VersaMagic chalk inks on Kraft CS. I used Sage, Hint of Pesto 7 Sahara Sand. It is layered on Caramel CS with torn edges that were sponged with Distress Walnut Stain. Stamps, inks, spellbinders, embossing powder and craft iron available from Rubbernecker Stamp Co.

Romance Collage

This is for today's Sketch Challenge on Splitcoast and also Rubbernecker's Blogger Challenge #1, to use die cuts. 

My card uses Kraft, Basic Gray and black Cardstocks.  The Romance Collage (Stamp Oasis) was stamped on Kraft using Versafine smokey Gray and sponged with Versafine Black. The DP's are The Paper Studio and were swiped with Distress Old Paper ink and the edges scraped with an old toothbrush inked with Versafine Onyx Black.  Spellbinders were used to cut and emboss the main image panel, the scalloped panel and also the Rod & Decorative Corner.  The rod and corner were sponged with Encore Gold before removing them from the dies.  Sakura Gel Pen highlights were added to the scalloped layer and umbrella, the ribbon is May Arts.  Have a great Wednesday, Make it work Wednesday will return next week.

I love the dimension of the CS vellum leaves and the depth from the acrylic stamped layer with the distress mists and pigment stamping.  After die cutting and embossing the Spellbinders leaves, I sponged them with pigment inks before popping out of the dies.  Then, pearlized distress mists were sprayed on.  The vellum curled up like dried leaves.  After they were dry, I used a paint brush handle to manipulate the final shape of the leaves. 

My tag was created with Pearlized Distress Mists made with Distress reinkers,perfect pearls & water.

Glittery Peace

OK, I admit that I hate glitter because of the mess.  I sparkle for days as does the cat and everything else in the house.  I took on today's Technique Challenge and pulled out the glitter and glue pad which I haven't used in ages.

 

I immediately thought of my favorite "go to" background from Rubbernecker Stamp Co. Baroque Background.  I used tsuineko's Essential Glue Pad and stamped the background on Riding Hood Red CS.  The tags were die cut using Spellbinders Tags Trio set (lg for Forest & Med. for the white layer)  Peace (Rubbernecker) was also stamped with the essential glue pad and glittered.  The Holly Script (Stamp Oasis) was stamped on the white tag in Distress Pine Needles and on the Forest tag in Blanco White.  The raised Holly script was stamped with Stazon Jet Black, colored with copic markers and glittered as well and raised on foam dimensional tape.  The card was finished with green organdy.
