Marimekko Umbrella Inspired

The Inspiration Challenge Splitcoast today is umbrella's by Marimekko.  I chose the pink and black pattern shown here.    It reminded me of the Cuttlebug Leafy Branch folder, so I used a negative embossing technique.  The back or raised portion of the folder was inked with Versafine Onyx Black ink before embossing the white layer. The flower is a Shapeabilities Die by Spellbinders called Daisy Heads.  I die cut the flwers, embossed them and then sponged with black ink before removing from the die.  The same technique was used for the sentiment panel that was cut from Classic Rectangles sm. die.

The sentiment and background flourish are from Rubbernecker Stamp Co.  The sentiment is KK originals and the stylish flourish from the Jeanne Streiff collection.  The ribbon is May Arts.  I raised the main image panel and layered daisy on foam dimensional tape.

I chose to case this card of Stephanie's.

FS75 Stephanie Silhouette_SaK 001

I kept the color scheme and sketch very similar.  Changes inclue Different DP's, stamps and ribbons.  I also changed out the Build a Brads for Buttons.

Images are available from Rubbernecker Stamp Co., Jeanne Streiff collection.  I used Flora & Flairs for the main image and Wheat Swirls Flourish underneath it.

The flora was inked up using Adirondack pigments in Cranberry, Butterscotch, Juniper & Bottle. I used a piece of magic mesh stuck to my acrylic block and inked it with Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink for the linen pattern and then sponged the edges with distress Aged Mahagony, Tea Dye & Scattered Straw. The flora layers were spritzed with a brown marker and my InkWorkx Art Gun and are on dimensionals. The wheat swirls were stamped on artichoke CS in Juniper.  Vintage buttons were tied with Basic Grey fibers and affixed glue dots.  The wired moire ribbon is from WalMart and the velvet ric rac is May Arts.  The striped dp is Sandy Lion and was punched with a Fiskars lace border punch and layered on burgandy cardstock that was also punched.  The dotted DP is My Minds Eye.

This weeks blogger challenge is to use ribbon in an unconventional way. The card base is celery, layered with Basic Grey Blush 6 x 6 paper pad. The flourish & foliage are from the Jeanne Streiff collection Swirl Flourish & Just Leaves. The sentiment is Stamp Oasis Petite Words collection. I used a corner rounder with the guard removed for the scallops and a circle scallop punch as the base for my ribbon rose. The punch was covered with double sided adhesive and then I started in the middle and folded the ribbon in half and fashioned the flower, twisting the ribbon occasionally. The variegated ribbon is May Arts and the Shirred Taffeta leaves are Making Memories I believe. The edges were distressed by dragging a toothbrush inked with TH Walnut Stain distress ink. I stamped the sentiment in Black Soot and colored the flat pearls using a Copic marker E04.
