The World is but canvas

This is for Jeanne's Rubbernecker Blog Challenge. Today's challenge is masking. I chose to mask a couple different ways by using the tag mask and the surrounding mortise or reverse mask. Start with a standard shipping tag, spritz with water, crumple and smooth out. Then, DTP using Tim Holtz Distress ink/Old Paper to highlight the wrinkles. Iron the tag to get it smooth and dry it. Tear the bottom edge as desired and trace the tag onto scrap paper. Use a craft knife to carefully cut the tag out of the paper giving you the tag and reverse/mortise masks. Stamp tag images and affix it to the vanilla layer. The sentiment was in a long row and I used a marker and Stamp Positioner to make it fit the space on the tag.
Using removable adhesive, place the tag mask over the stamped tag. Apply removable adhesive to the back of the mortise mask and position over the tag leaving a gap on the torn bottom and right edge. Sponge the gap with TH Aged Mahogany ink. Remove the reverse mask and stamp the Latin Word Background in TH Frayed Burlap ink. Take the mask off the tag and sponge the face with TH Tattered Rose and Frayed Burlap. The edges of the vanilla layer were scraped with an old toothbrush inked up with Versafine Vintage Sepia ink. Fibers and the hardware are by BasicGrey. Stamps are all available from Rubbernecker Stamp Co.
