Cut n Dry Lighthouse

I made this for today's Sketch Challenge using Cut n Dry stamp pad felt and reinkers. The image was stamped on the cut n dry felt using Stazon ink. Cut around the image leaving a little extra felt around the edges. Add reinkers to the felt until the image is completely covered on the felt. Then, ink up the stamp using you custom made stamp pad. The felt can be stored in a Zip bag to use over and over with the same image again. How fun is that? The card is 9 1/4" x 4" to fit in a standard business sized envelope.

Blog Candy & Treasure Hunt

Now for my card. The finished size measures 4 1/4" square. The angel was stamped with Stazon Black on white cardstock, cut out and sponged with Pomegranate and Sky inks. The background was created by using a no porous craft mat and smearing Tim Holtz Distress inks in Faded Jeans & Aged Mahogany on the mat, misting the ink before placing white cardstock directly in it. I dried it with a heat gun and then stamped the flourishes in Pomegranate and the How do I love thee script in black that was stamped off twice on scrap paper. The mulberry paper strip was white that I DTP'd with pomegranate ink, misted with shimmer mist and dried with a heat tool as well. After assembling the background layer, mulberry strip and angel, the layers were misted again for added shimmer. The buttons are vintage and threaded with metallic fibers. I will post again later or tomorrow on how to make you own shimmer mist. The Dream sentiment was added after I took my supply photo. It is part of a long sentiment that says "believe in your dreams" I used a marker to select the part I wanted to use. It is an image from the Rubbernecker category and I will email Dave and make sure the image gets added to the website.

The finished bookmark tag measures 3/18" x 6 3/8" The base is Sahara Sand which was stamped with the Japanese Text 187-3 background using Tim Holtz Distress Old Paper, then the edges are sponged with TH Tea Dye. The pink layer was stamped with Baroque Background 1230 SO in Brilliance Pearlescent Orchid. The Bird on Branch 186-2 is fussy cut after stamping in Brilliance Graphite Black on Georgia Pacific White CS. It's colored with Copic Markers and the blossoms are highlighted with the Brilliance Orchid for a shimmer. The sentiment is part of a stamp and says "There is beauty in the world" and is part of Petite Words set 2000 SO. After layering, the tag was misted with Perfect Pearls mixed with water and misted for a beautiful shimmer. Ribbons are May Arts and I am not sure who the Pearl Brad is from.

Dragonfly Dream & Treasure Hunt Tuesday

The fern background (180-06) was stamped on Artist Watercolor paper in Stazon Timber Brown, DTP'd with Tim Holtz Shabby Shutter distress ink, misted with water and set aside to dry. The shipping tag was also stamped using a collage stamp (261-03) sponged with TH Broken China, Scattered Straw, Spiced Marmalade, Shabby Shutter, Fired Brick & Peeled Paint. I sponged the dragonfly with Brilliance Peacock tri colored pad. The tag was spritzed with Perfect Pearls. When dry, crystal stickles were added and the Dream (2210-04) text was stamped in Stazon Jet Black. Fibers were added after layering the tag on light yellow and blue cardstock. A tag corner punch was used on the right hand edges and the punched off part was flipped over and glued on top of the layers. I added stick on gemstones to the bottom corner. RBC06 Happiness Blossoms

This is for Jeannes Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge. The colors this week are Pink, Red & Grey. Asian came to mind first when I saw the colors. Images and inks are available from

The polished stone background was created with Adirondack Alcohol Inks in Red Pepper and Pearl Mixative. The Plum Blossom branch was inked with Stazon Jet Black that was stamped off on scrap paper once before stamping the images on the layer. The blossoms were highlighted using a Q-Tip & Tim Holtz Fired Brick distress ink. The Primas were dyed using Adirondack Red Pepper ink and Tim Holtz Black Soot reinker. When dry, I edged them with a Sakura Stardust Gel Pen. The Grey Taffeta is done with a Japanese Stab Binding technique. (click to go to the tutorial) Cardstock is Prism: Baby Light Pink, Rose Medium & Stormy Night.

Inspired Quilt

For today's inspiration challenge, I chose to make a quilt using Designer Paper by Scraperdashery. They were created to coordinate with Tim Holtz Distress Ink colors. Images and DP are available from Rubbernecker Stamp Co. I used the coordinating inks and stamped the eyelet border on 4 different colored 2" squares. They were all cut in quarters and quilted on to Prism Frosted Teal Cardstock. The center medallion was also stamped on the frosted teal and then I stamped it again in dried marigold and fired brick onto the marigold and pink/red DP and cut them out. The center is on foam dimensional tape. I layered the quilt on Prism Vibrant Teal CS and faux stitched the edges. The Blue/Purple part of the medallion was rock n rolled. But, I didn't want to contaminate my Broken China pad to get the Dusty Concord on the edges. To solve this, I inked up the image in China and used a baby wipe to remove ink from around the edges, rock n rolled them in Dusty Concord, misted to spread the ink a little and then stamped.

A Challenge from the heart

This is for today's Sketch Challenge and a RAK challenge I do with a few friends on Splitcoast. We take turns picking a recipient from the need a lift forum to send cards to each week. Cindy/aka Mothermark chose this thread. The stamps I chose today are from Innovative Stamp Creations About Me! rubber sheet. Inks include Brilliance Graphite Black, Craft White & Tim Holtz Distress Worn Lipstick. The butterfly was embossed using detail clear EP mixed with a little glitter and Perfect Pearls Pearl powder. The butterfly is up on dimensionals. The Pink CS is Prism Vibrant Pink (my first time using Prism & I am in love!) Black and Georgia Pacific White.

Framed Spring Spirit

I have had this border stamp for a couple of weeks and ordered it with the intent of making it into a frame. The card has been photographed a bazillion times, but I just can't capture the dimension. it is like a pyramid where the inside edges are raised and the outside edges are lower, make sense? To stamp the frame, I cut the cardstock to 4" x 5 1/4" and then used post it notes to miter off the corners. I stamped the top and bottom and then shifted the post it's and stamped the sides. After that, I cut the center out using a 12" Fiskars cutter. I don't own any Nestabilities yet, but had a lightbulb moment where I thought I could do a faux technique. I used my Scor-It mini to score a line around the inside of the frame opening and the border. Then, I flipped my frame over and scored the mitered corners. After that, I highlighted some of the flourishes with a copic marker, sponged with Tim Holtz Vintage Photo and spritzed the frame with Perfect Pearls Gold/Water combination. The frame was layered on brown cardstock and then coral for the card base. I placed foam dimensional tape under the center corners of the frame and halfway out on the mitered corners. The outside edges are secured flat to the next layer with double stick adhesive. The image was colored with copic markers. Y11 & 17, YR61, E00 & 31, R02 & 22, RV14, G21, BG10. The border stamp and spirit of spring images are both by Rubbernecker Stamp Co.

Bronc Birthday

My Friend Judy has an awesome tutorial for a double pocket card using double sided designer paper and it is the Technique Challenge on Splitcoast today. Be sure to check out Judy's Blog and play along! I used SU! Western Sky DP and very vanilla cardstock for the tags. The twill was preprinted with the horseshoes. Ink is all Tim Holtz Distress, Walnut Stain, Black Soot, Frayed Burlap, Old Photo, Faded Jeans. The edges of the DP were sponged with Vintage Photo, the tag edges with Faded Jeans and Vintage Photo. The twill was stamped with Frayed Burlap stamped off on scrap paper once. I rock n rolled the genuine image in Walnut Stain after inking the stamp with Faded Jeans and the Bronc with Vintage Photo and then Walnut stain. I also sponged the twill to dirty it up. Grosgrain and leather was tied through the jumbo eyelets.

RBC05 Tulip Triptic

This is for Jeanne's Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge. The colors today are Green, Yellow & Red. Images from Rubbernecker Stamp Co.

Tulip Triptic 32-12 KK (KK Originals Section, Chinese Symbol Background 187-3 (Rubbernecker Section) Wishing You Happiness 375-1 (Rubbernecker Section) The Chinese symbol background was stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black and embossed with Detail Clear powder, then DTP'd with Brilliance Red. The embossed 1/2 of the layer was sponged with Graphite black on the edges and the sentiment 1/2 was sponged in Red. The fans were colored with Copic Markers and I cut around the top and bottom fans for an out of the box look. The card is finished with a brad and tassle.

Fantasy Dragonfly

I wish you could see the shimmer on this card in real life. The Dragonfly 603 SO was stamped in Stazon Jet Black on Fantasy Film with Fantasy Fibers sandwiched in between the film. The oval layers were cut with 2 coluzzle templates and spritzed with Perfect Pearls mixed with water. The designer paper on the top oval is by Scrapperdashery and was designed to coordinate with Tim Holtz Distress ink colors. How cool is that? I had to use the same colors for my background just to check it out. The base is just white cardstock that was stamped with Baroque Background 1230 SO using Versamark. I mixed a concoction of Detail Clear embossing powder, Holographic Glitter and Perfect Pearls pearl powder, tapped off the excess and heat embossed. Then, using the Tim Holtz applicator tool and felt, I inked the applicator with Faded Jeans, misted the felt with water and applied over the embossed layer. This was repeated using a new piece of felt and Dusty concord distress ink. The layer was spritzed with water to soften the look. To keep your cardstock from warping, just flip it over and spritz the back side with water as well. This will help your layer dry flat. I do iron my cardstock in most cases and can avoid wetting both sides of the paper, but if you have heat embossed, it will ruin your raised embossing, so wetting both sides of the paper is an alternative. The dragonfly is attached using glue dots under the body and bottom wings only. The ovals are on dimensional tape. The corner embellishments are black snaps from the sewing department. I love the irredescent (sp) ribbon which was a find at 12 cents a yard on clearance!

My card above features stamps from KK Originals. The Takeko 4324-J was stamped using Encore Gold ink directly on the back of a roll up calendar given away by our local Chinese buffet. I almost threw it away and am glad I rescued it for my card. After cutting into the calendar and all the little strips falling apart, I decided it was easiest to glue the calendar to a piece of cardstock cut just bigger than the finished size I needed and then I trimmed the edges. Mieko 5603-H is on dimensionals. The Chinese Coin 4329-D was stamped with Black Stazon on brushed Gold CS and punched with a 1" circle punch and a 1/4" square punch for the center. The Mulberry was white so I just used a DTP method using Tim Holtz Fired Brick and misted it with water so the color would run. The Happiness text is a portion of a Happiness Sentiment 375-1 also available from Rubbernecker. Now for the tag. The shipping tag measures 6 1/4" x 3 1/8" The variegated organdy and fibers are May Arts and the metal reinforcement is hardware I got on clearance in the wood section at Hobby Lobby. I only used 2 stamps on the tag. 187-3 Chines Words Background and the Bird on a Flowering branch 186-2. The image was stamped in Black Stazon. I also stamped the image twice on computer paper and made a mask of the bird and branch sections and also one opposite cutting out the image leaving the frame and blank area in the rectangle. The bird image mask was layed over the top of the stamped image on the tag and the chinese words BG was stamped in Antique Linen distress ink. I then sponged TH Weathered wood inside the rectangle while the image mask was still in place. After removing that mask, I colored the bird, flowers and the branches using blending Stumps and picking up color directly off the pads. The leaves were colored by using a sponge dauber after putting the reverse mask over the solid portion of the stamped image. I highlighted them with a darker green after sponging them. To finish the tag off, I mixed Perfect Pearls (pearl) with water and spritzed the entire tag for a shimmery look. Well, the title says it all. I am having a wonderful time being on the Rubbernecker Design Team. Wish you could stop by and play with the wonderful images, accessories and papers. I just got a delivery of these Scrapperdashery DP's and I am in love. They were designed in England by Judi Hodgkin to coordinate with the line of Tim Holtz Distress inks. The paper is 65 pound, double sided, gorgeous and has a finish that is perfect for doing DTP and blending inks. For a closer look, stop by Rubbernecker Stamp Co. While there, click on the home page to read about the other exciting happenings. The 2 DP's I used on this card are Love is Patient and Postcards from the Shore. The sentiment was stamped with Stazon Jet Black on the vellum strip, but all other inks used were Tim Holtz Distress: Walnut Stain, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo, Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick & Old Paper. Fibers and Ribbon are Basic Grey. Stamps used are also all available from Rubbernecker Stamp Co. in the Stamp Oasis and Rubbernecker sections. Wonderful Time Text, Petite Travel Places, Diamond Border, Compass. Techniques used on this card include: DTP, Sponging, and Rock n Roll.

Nurnberg Travel pocket

For Jeannes Monday Rubbernecker color challenge - Light blue, Dark Blue + Neutral. (RBC04) Click on the Rubbernecker Blogger Challenge button on my side bar to play along, or click HERE

I chose to use Nurnberg 190-2, Good Trip Text 44-12 & MK Postmark 193-03. All available from Rubbernecker Stamp Company The main image was stamped on Light Blue Cardstock using Tim Holtz Distress ink Faded Jeans, the edges were rock n rolled in Brushed Corduroy before stamping. I Used a toothbrush inked with Versafine Vintage Sepia to distress the edges and on the image body. The Tag sentiment was stamped in Brushed Corduroy as well, but I inked the long sentiment in segments to fit on the tag. The tag was also brushed with the versafine toothbrush. The Postmark was inked with Brushed Corduroy, rock n rolled in TH Black Soot, stamped and sponged with TH Weathered Wood and Scattered Straw. I also brushed it with the Versafine ink. The ends were punched with a 1/4" circle punch to give it a ticket look. The blue ribbon is Martha Stewart and I also added a dotted organdy to the tag. The card is just a card front and the tag slides out of the torn DP by Daisy D's.

Montreux Palace

Just playing around with ink. I stamped the image with Versamark ink and embossed with clear powder. Sponged with Tim Holtz inks in Vintage Photo Worn Lipstick, Mustard Seed, Spiced Marmalade, Tea Dye, Weathered Wood, Tattered Rose, Dried Marigold and Antique Linen. Edges were distressed with Versafine vintage Sepia and a toothbrush. The background was stamped with versamark ink and embossed with clear powder as well. The twill is by atuumn leaves and I added a vintage brad by Karen Foster. Thanks for looking, I love this look!

Dream in one color

Today's Limited Supplies Challenge was to use only 1 color cardstock besides white. I chose to use watercolor paper and apply Tim Holtz Distress/Peeled Paint directly to the paper and mist it with water. (see photo below) When it dried, I stamped the images using peeled paint ink and then layered it on Old Olive CS. The black along the top and left is a faux layer using a Copic Marker. I also used the black copic marker to color the back of the Leonardo tin types letters as they were clear. Images are all available from Rubbernecker Stamp co. The Tin Types are by Stanislaus Imports and are also available from Rubbernecker. The background is item # 261-3, Face 260-5 & Drafting Compass 261-2. Any embellishments were allowed, so in addition to the tin types I added grosgrain ribbon and sq. brads to the opposite corners.

Isn't it romantic?

Here's another card using an image from the new Hanna Stamps set, Passport. The layer was cut to size and embossed 4 times with copper embossing powder. I quickly inked up the eiffel tower with Stazon Jet Black after heat embossing for the 4th time. Stamp as usual and just leave the stamp on the hot embossed layer for a minute or 2. It will come right off and not damage the stamp at all. The edges of the completed layer were sponged with black Stazon as well and I added thin organdy and heart charms. The DP is by the Paper Studio and was distressed with a toothbrush inked with Versafine Vintage Sepia. I brushed the edges of the cocoa card base too. The rub on in the top left corner is by K&Company and the sentiment is a sticker by 7 Gypsies.

I used a newly released Riley image along with the sentiment from Things Hanna would say and images from Passport that will be released by Hanna Stamps today.
(the sun, waves and palm tree strip) The main image is colored with Copic markers and layered on sand paper.

Man of the house

Here's another couple sneak peeks of
Hanna Stamps! that will be released on Friday April 4. This card features a new set called Tool Time.
The DP is by Foof-a-la. I used white magic mesh and sponged it with navy ink. The tools were stamped with Stazon Black on a paint chip. Very quick and simple card!












This card was so much fun to make! I paired the new Hanna set Passport with text from Things Hanna Would Say & SU! Headline Alphabet.

A stamp positioner and masking was crucial to get this just right. Hanna's bag is paper pieced and popped up on dimensionals. I doodled on the letters, sponged the background with Soft Sky ink and colored Hanna and the Taxi with Copic Markers. The sentiment is on a word window punch and layered on a small oval punch.

I intended to make a card for my bookmark to go on today, but that didn't happen, maybe I will get it done and edit the photo soon. The bookmark uses a KK originals image Sakura 2523-K
I also used Asian Word BG stamp 1873-SO after masking Sakura off. The Geisha was colored with Copic Markers and the face with a white gel pen. The Background was sponged with Tim Holtz Distress inks in Worn Lipstick, Spiced Marmalade & Dried Marigold. I made paper beads by rolling thin strips of designer paper around a toothpick and gluing the end.

I just had to make another asian card today using a KK Originals image. KK Originals is a unique and fresh line of stamps by Kathy Kaberline, designed with her own unique twist. I used Adirondack alcohol inks (red pepper, terra cotta & gold mixative) to make the polished stone layer. Images are stamped with Stazon Jet Black. Victorian Thoughts Color Challenge

It took me a while to embrace today's colors, but I got out some new images from Rubbernecker Stamp Co.The Decorative scroll border was stamped with white pigment on the apricot cardstock and then the entire layer was sponged with Tim Holtz Antique Linen distress ink to soften and age it. The edges were sponged with TH Tea Dye. The Coral layer has an eyelet border stamp that was stamped twice and then sponged with the same colors. The cameo image was stamped using Versafine Vintage Sepia and colored with copic markers and sponged with TH Dried Marigold and Peeled Paint. Stamps used include:
