We may have done a button challenge in the past, but I couldn’t resist when I happened across these making memories buttons on my desk the other day. So, the challenge to you today is to use buttons on your project. Yes, that is plural. Use more than one button on your work. You could create a border, maybe make a frame out of buttons, flower centers, wheels, corner adornments, animal eyes……………. I am sure you already have some ideas, so it’s time to check out what the design team has come up with today and then play along! </p> <p>The abstract floral background was stamped using Castaway ink, left for a couple minutes for the ink to soak in and then ironed. It works like bleach only not so unpredictable. The pad works on Prism CS, but not many other brands I have tried. I prefer Prism CS for my projects anyway.</p> <ul> <li><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: 0px" title="P7210001" border="0" alt="P7210001" align="right" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg9tZWoyTCW487auYZA-7ynTgAyR4BAZ2CMmZY-0WoEdlkqEPA2B9GLgzvubhALWrJ3Cu6cW79YmriwgQBxnQQOTfsMR3CcDhJ8hyphenhyphenvilLFxYptSEImYDhLhA8XsJ8Ddctg2pQhGLw/?imgmax=800" width="389" height="480" />Stamps: <a href="http://rubbernecker.com/p-1683-new-release-backgrounds.aspx" target="_blank">Abstract Floral</a> Background 450, <a href="http://rubbernecker.com/p-1446-fashion-dresses.aspx" target="_blank">Shopping Background</a> 237-01, <a href="http://rubbernecker.com/p-1446-fashion-dresses.aspx" target="_blank">Fashion Icons Set</a> 456 (sentiment)</li> <li>Ink: <a href="http://rubbernecker.com/p-478-versafine-pads.aspx" target="_blank">Versafine</a> Onyx Black, Jacquard Castaway Pad </li> <li>Paper: <a href="http://rubbernecker.com/p-1658-12-x-12-solid-color-ds.aspx" target="_blank">Prism Cardstock</a> Razzleberry medium, Buttercream, Black </li> <li>Misc: Making Memories button assortment, Craft Iron, Misc. ribbon, Sakura stardust gel pen. </li> </ul> <p><strong>The winner of this Wacky Wednesday Challenge will receive a Certificate good for 40% off your entire order at <a href="http://rubbernecker.com/default.aspx" target="_blank">Rubbernecker</a>!</strong> In order to qualify to win, you must post a link to your card/project on the <a href="http://rubberneckerstamps.typepad.com/rubbernecker_stamp_compan/" target="_blank">RN BLOG</a> by Monday, August 3rd. It can  be anything from a simple circle tag to multiple circle frames.  You can make your card as simple or as intricate as you wish.   I don’t have a challenge card today for a couple reasons.  My plan was to get up early and stamp.  I overslept!  I must have slept like a log because I remember my husband shaking me awake in the night and saying that I was snoring loud enough to wake the neighbors.  Huh???????????  I was not even in a deep sleep – so I thought………….  On top of that, I have to make a dish to pass for parents night at Boy Scout camp tonight and work today.  So, that means that my challenge card is not happening.  I do have a photo of my framed challenge project from a few weeks ago though.  This is the first time I have had my work custom framed.  I have tried numerous times to capture the framed work in a photo, and this is as good as it gets.  Anyway, it is truly a Wacky Wednesday for me.  I hope yours goes better and that you can play along in the circle challenge.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqWOdLX1Vq2Pz7MbN9KieXbc8SbnUJIOFvA5S5H4fpHMaVR4TBu1MsxMjWPQWg_Tn9GU6L9KP2QOxmt2nSoGv30jT07o1gRg0TVJaabvfGAJJVT6Y0wd0J_rjTSiL-TnGbcKnyMw/s1600-h/P6300009_thumb%5B21%5D%5B4%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; Be sure to drop by the <a href="http://rubberneckerstamps.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Rubbernecker Blog</a> to get all the challenge details and the links to the other DT members blogs for their take on the challenge today. I absolutely love how this turned out. First off, I have to tell you that the entire design and inspiration came from the June/July Stampers’ Sampler magazine with their new deconstructed stamping feature. This issue, the artist is <a href="http://thebagladysart.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Pam Carriker</a> and I did use the same basic colors, the images and end result are my own though. Don’t you just love finding something inspiring, trying to duplicate the technique/look and having it evolvle? I never would have added the bold black and white triangular border to my work, but it sure frames in the images and pulls the whole project together. Pam has a great eye for detail and color that’s for sure! I am going to show you the finished project and then back up and go through step by step with the deets and photos together. I hope it makes sense and that you like the format. Here’s the finished piece. I am thinking of having it custom framed with the 7 gypsies door knob that I hung the hanger on. I will post the final project if I decide on a mat and frame etc………</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiNe-ud0j5asAJbolWWVEcfyenWwrzX1S_J08oQb3kifBtfua5wm7k-6KgEdZFY5jtplFeU_PDNxbdR4c4BhT3Go_fZKMLVY1Om_NvoqWQp0dAxvabQyoS9aHvp7lskl8Mfggozg/s1600-h/P6300009%5B2%5D.jpg"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: 0px" title="P6300009" border="0" alt="P6300009" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1aH1znNOq-ezulz8H8TLccO20KWSxbMAEac4H5w6M-5y9mpfNSgkII3ubTTGKJMUNWtwJL_ruj80RDLIRMN1VhLx3Zt-WGIj5TtshhGMFh7jO0YzKYh464fp8z6gvcRKKWEWKwg/?imgmax=800" width="654" height="774" /></a></p> <p>The image base is stamped on Prism Simply Smooth Vanilla. The tag is from a Tim Holtz Journal ticket that I made into a tag to suit my needs. I sponged the edges of my project and layers using Distress Tea Dye ink. Oh, the grommet on my tag would have covered my stamped words if I had it all the way on the tag, so I just punched the edge of the tag using a 3/8”circle punch and attached the grommet over the edge. The spinners are Tim Holtz, Lock/Key/Chain Hobby Lobby jewelry dept. and the book plate and fibers are vintage. The hanger is an unknown source and the brass knob is by 7gypsies. Have a wonderful Wednesday!!!!!!!!!!!</p> <p><a href="http://www.mylivesignature.com/" target="_blank"><img style="border-bottom-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none; background: none transparent scroll repeat 0% 0%; border-left-style: none" src="http://signatures.mylivesignature.com/54486/201/86830568CF893014DBA3436A19CBA1A2.png" /></a></p> Shellyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04361417903552012920noreply@blogger.com12tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-33236142.post-9084456862549249512009-06-25T04:45:00.001-04:002009-06-25T06:44:46.599-04:00Rubbernecker Release & Blog Stroll<p>We have another exciting release and Blog Stroll for you today. <a href="http://rubbernecker.com/default.aspx" target="_blank">Rubbernecker</a> has just released a gorgeous silhouette floral set with sentiments, a Teddy Bear Inchie set and a cheesecloth background. The flower stamp and foliage were colored with Copic markers and misted with Rubbing Alcohol before putting the rubber to paper. I combined colors so they would blend slightly when misted. </p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFolS5SeN7Fl3xvhRuhOzEHXbHJo-DzChT4BTiGLxH6-HzeS36vFIG2yiS-N68GWz0KSwR-KcKoIgL7m8K_9RsOkx2duvbRap7gZxNtcGTe8cqq7WyxLXvQNi1j4QnNemP2WSQpQ/s1600-h/P623001011.jpg"><img title="P6230010" style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="240" alt="P6230010" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjM5b5jOZ9APn5GZwGlv29-lBJvC6V3DPbQZYZId5bju9xkNoGw-x1nzczmmFvMWWGPGhblrPEFPj0vGltJTituaBGINWdKWlSQHVpNbgHQcK8dP783-8VOl8vYgbrVIK6NwQiFug/?imgmax=800" width="240" align="left" border="0" /></a> </p> <p>The Fern Background is also available from Rubbernecker and one of my favorites. I took a photo of the finished background before the layering so you can see the results. It was created by inking up the background with Adirondack Pigment in Juniper and then sponged with Adirondack Pigment/Terra Cotta. I misted the inked rubber to let the colors meld together before stamping. You won’t want to get it too wet, I use Ranger’s Mini Misters. They are perfect for water, rubbing alcohol, reinkers, perfect pearls……..</p> <p></p> <p></p> <p></p> <img title="P6230011" style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="480" alt="P6230011" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_iSCl5IDlTbA/SkLL5qmKA-I/AAAAAAAACbM/QEd_gaZS7oQ/P6230011_thumb4.jpg?imgmax=800" width="360" align="right" border="0" />Stamps: Flower Silhouettes 468, Fern Background <p>Ink: Distress/Black Soot, Tea Dye Adirondack Pigment/ Juniper, Terra cotta</p> <p>Copic Markers/ E33 Sand, Y28 Lionet Gold, R08 Vermillion, E09 Burnt Sienna. Today, <a href="http://www.rubbernecker.com/default.aspx" target="_blank">Rubbernecker Stamps</a> releases SIX (6) new sets that Mr. Rubbernecker has worked very hard to create!</p> <p> <br />To celebrate this release, we invite you to Blog Stroll along with the Rubbernecker Red-Hot Mommas. The Stroll begins at the <a href="http://www.rubbernecker.com/" target="_blank">Rubbernecker Stamps Blog</a> where you will find the guidelines on how to win one of the five sets being given away during this release. If you haven’t started at the <a href="http://rubberneckerstamps.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Rubbernecker Blog</a>, you should go start there where you’ll find the first clue to begin your Stroll.</p> <p><strong>My Phrase clue is: at Rubbernecker</strong></p> <p>The Blog Stroll continues at <a href="http://sherrycheever.blogs.splitcoaststampers.com/" target="_blank">Sherry’s Blog</a> where you will find the next phrase clue.</p> <p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgyvpdv5T1GpOP2zCEN5Ud8WX8907izmpq-fR-Xx2YlVx1VghSK6dLO7gaT4aoCvRuZpqIGCW4eyp9csKjfvZpnBxm9WhwGWReUo91L2CMJwf2eXliKnacyxpXOSzQHcuDjO_s53Q/s1600-h/5-14RNRelease_SaK%20001%5B7%5D.jpg"><img title="5-14RNRelease_SaK 001" style="border-top-width: 0px; display: inline; border-left-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; border-right-width: 0px" height="486" alt="5-14RNRelease_SaK 001" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUWDNbVQBuNFWsTz8rHyZKZwY9fx9S2LzyDx_JBdTM6ihVRqKkf14q41jv9ep7uOU9d1H2ZOBVPvCsecLv4Rg3Jxdge7hOqOhqE6kivVlFH84FZWaqvDf7byf-rLndlt50hhIrZw/?imgmax=800" width="366" align="right" border="0" /></a> </p> <p>My sample today uses the newly released Flourish 463 set as well as Wildflowers 465 & Spring Inchies 425. The background stamp is Abstract Floral and the sentiment is from Fashion Icons 456. To start, the purple layer was stamped using Castaway ink and ironed to get the bleached look. I punched the edge with an EK Success victorian punch and edged it with flat pearls. The sentiment was stamped with Adirondack white ink. The dress was made using <a href="http://spellbinders.us/ct/store/ct_dynamicIndex.asp?idAffiliate=" target="_blank">Spellbinders</a> Classic Heart (3rd from the smallest) for the bodice, Classic Ovals (largest) and Classic Scallop Rectangle Lg. for the hemline. The dress was die cut from Prism Crabapple pink cardstock and stamped with the flourishes and castaway pad to get the sublte white bleaching. I overstamped with the flourish stamp in black and did the top with the small flower. The edges of the dress were sponged with Distress worn lipstick ink.
