Badda Bling Wacky Wednesday #26

P8200002  Candy is the challenge hostess today and she decided on Bling.  So, add any kind of bling to your card and or project, Glitter, Rhinestones, Pearls, Glitter EP, etc.  I actually used a pearl flourish by Prima, but I also pulled out my beading supplies and made a woven border for the top out of Czech crystals and pearlized seed beads.  The pattern is called Hugs & Kisses because of the x’s and o’s in the weave.  I love Paris and dream of returning there again soon, so that is a dream I do believe in.  Here is the full card and the deets.  Be sure to visit the RN Blog for the challenge details.  Also, check out what the other DT members have come up with this week.

  1. Stamps:  Eiffel Tower, Believe in your dreams Text, Script background, Flourish inchies

Ink:  Versafine Smokey Grey, Onyx Black & Distress Aged Mahagony

Paper:  Prism Razzleberry Dark & Medium, My Minds Eye Designer Paper.

Accessories:  Prima pearl flourish, Czech crystals and seed beads.

The edges of the designer paper were “scraped” with a toothbrush inked up with versafine smokey grey ink.  This is my favorite way to finish off the edges of a layer to mimic the look of the edges of cardstock such as this piece of MME.  Once you cut down a 12 x12 sheet to card size, you are left with edges that don’t have the distressed printing.  The versafine ink/toothbrush does a good job of duplicating the look.  I really prefer the versafine ink for this as it is an oil based ink that dries quickly but is easy to manipulate.   I also distressed my paper slightly by tapping the brush on other areas of the DP.  I keep the brush in a small zip baggie and because of the oil base, the brush doesn’t need much inking off the stamp pad each time.  The woven detail at the top is attached with glue dots so that it can be removed and made into a bracelet.

Have a wonderful Wednesday, I hope you are able to play along w/ us this week!

WW #24 An inspiring challenge

This was a fun one, I must say.  On that note, I started out with a different vision altogether.  My memory was going to be of my most treasured trip to Paris.  Somehow I ended up here.  I guess the only explanation is that it is my Mothers birthday today, I wore these colors to work on Tuesday when I made the card and that must have dictated the end result.   So, instead of my original intent, I am sharing a birthday card for my Mom.  I grew up going antiquing, loved anything vintage and still do.  I think most of my inspiration came from that.  The spellbinders curved rectangles dies even look vintage to me.  So, here’s what I used:

Stamps:  Flourish Background 462, Screen Background 452, Girls Sleeping 2010-01 SO, Happy Memories Text 824 SO

Paper:  Prism Simply Smooth Ivory, Island Mist Dark, Island Mist Light

Ink:  Distress Tea Dye, Walnut Stain, Broken China, Brown Marker

Accessories:  Ribbon, Foam Dimensional Tape, Corner embellishment, Spellbinders Curved Rectangle Dies, Heat Gun, Sponges, Mini Misters.

Wacky Wednesday #24

My Treasured Friend.  I can think of so many people to send this card to, I guess I need to make a bunch of cards with this sentiment.  Anyway, the challenge today is to use flowers.  Not a tough challenge at all!  Broni is hosting this week and I am sure she will delight us with a fabulous card or project.  So, here is my humble project for this week.

P7300001

  • Stamps:  Flourish Set 463, Flower Silhouette Set 468, Diamond Background, Script Background
  • Paper: Prism White, Majestic Purple Dark, Twighlight Light, Herbal Farden Medium
  • Ink:  Distress Milled Lavender, Dusty Concord, Stazon Black.  Markers, Lavender and green.
  • Accessories:  Brads, Window Punch, Organdy,Tim Holtz clear acrylic tag, Ranger Mini Mister filled with water

So, I used a water based brush tip marker to just ink up the edges of the diamond shapes on the background stamp, misted with water and stamped.  The flourishes were stamped in the corner and misted to make them bleed a little too.  The bouquet of flowers was inked with markers and stamped on the white CS, then the script was stamped in milled lavender over the top.  I sponged the edges using Dusty Concord and finished the card with the tabs, and tag tied on with organdy.

The winner of this Wacky Wednesday Challenge will receive a Certificate good for 40% off your entire order at Rubbernecker!  In order to qualify to win, you must post a link to your card/project on the RN Blog by Monday, August 10.   The winner will be announced on Tuesday, August 11.     Don't forget to post a direct link to your card!
